It's alright....I still need to find my pizza place, though. The sauce tastes like Ellios sauce (which is baller on Ellios, elsewhere..eh....) Beer is only $3! Hooray beer! The wait for a slice of pizza when the place is practically empty is wayyyyy tooooo longgggg. The slices are huge! I don't know if this is a good thing though. The dough is on point - this is where most places shat the bed but they have great crust - if they could sort their sauce out, I'd be all up in this biatch. You can sit outside - good. It's close - good.

Andolini's defines the dive pizza bar. Expect to see this place packed with families with small children, any night of the week. Nevertheless, I love it here. Great beers on tap, cheap wine, and decent pizza. My favorite is the spicy. Always pair it with a Greek salad. Best to come when its nice out to enjoy their great patio area.

Some of the best pizza and marinara sauce I have ever had. The atmosphere is pretty awesome. Me and my husband really love this place.

I really like Andolini's Pizza. I haven't been back since the renovations but I'll update my review once I do. As I remember it, it's a no-frills pizza joint. You might not get the greatest service, you might not have this warm and fuzzy feeling about the atmosphere but you'll come away having had a good meal. I've done take-out and dined in - always a positive experience. I'm looking forward to my next pizza from Andolini's!

Always friendly and polite, food is great. Annie, the GM is a delight. Dog friendly outside seating. My Update... Third time here. Brought us the wrong pizza. Took the slices off of our plate and put them back with the pizza and delivered them to another table. Scary

We had a huge group (30+) and they were so accommodating! The pizza is good (traditional thin crust) and there are tons of options. Salads are delicious!

Stopped by for lunch, they have just remodeled the place and it has some really cool art, super clean too, the guy behind counter said the replaced all the ovens and new management staff. I had the spinach salad, awesome, it has a bacon feta dressing, yum, quick and friendly service and low priced for Mt Pleasant

Andolini's Pizza is the very best there is.... have never tasted a better pie..... Crave the white pie! I can see why Andolini's is voted the BEST in Charleston.... And this is from a person who grew up in Chicago.... make Andolini's a must if you are in the greater Charleston area! An extra special treat.... watching Annie throw a crust!

Nostalgia factors into this experience. Andolini's is part of Charleston's history. Before food here got real, we had cheap pizza and beer. Any CofC grad in the 1990's to 2000's can tell you a story about this place. We were starving and this place fed us. The downtown location has since closed. The Mount Pleasant branch has exactly the same food. Pizza by the slice, burnt to a crisp. Toppings haphazardly placed on top and not warmed through properly. Disgusting but for some reason, we keep going back. Nostalgia. Reliving those college years? One of my favorite bouts of food poisoning was due to a slice of meatball pizza here. Between episodes of projectile vomiting, I called to let them know "the meatballs have turned, man." "Thanks for letting us know!" "No, thank you! I have not been a size 0 since middle school." That was 3 years ago. Last month, I went back again, for the memories. The chianti served in a highball glass, the veggie slice with cold olives on top of a graphite crust, the sticky vinyl booths. As I picked at the inedible slice, I said my goodbyes. Some establishments and memories are just not good enough for what Charleston has become.

First time here & will be back! If you're looking for just some good ole pizza go here! My husband and I ordered a lot because we were hungry & figured leftovers wouldn't hurt, but ended up eating all we ordered (unusual). It was not only delicious, but for only $25 we had cheese bread, a Greek salad, an entire margarita pizza & individual slice of the meat lovers (which was the best meat lovers I've ever had) + soda. Nothing was overly greasy, ok maybe the cheese bread, but come on! The crust was perfectly crisp & the red sauce that accompanied the cheese bread was spot on. We ate out the entire week at highly recommended restaurants and this one was not planned, but enjoyed thoroughly due to taste & value! The staff really was pleasant & helpful too!

Twice I've been disappointed with Andolini's. They seem to have trouble during holidays. Went there today, July 5, a holiday weekend, and was warned by the staff that it would be a 45 minute wait for dine in service. Really ? Understaffed ? The worse pizza that I've ever had in my life was when I ordered one here on New Years Eve. I was tempted to return it but didn't want to wait another hour for a replacement. It was with great reservations that I agreed to return here, with the urging of out of town company. This is it ! I'm done with Andolini's. Not for lunch, not for a slice !

Ordered a calzone with pepperoni and jalapeños. Girlfriend ordered a slice of cheese pizza. My calzone came arrived before her one slice of pizza and after about 5 mins she had to go back to the counter to get her own pizza. My calzone was extra crispy and bland. Place was filthy, was afraid to sit on the 1970s vinyl booths that are all torn up. Place smelled funny too. Won't be going back!

No chance of finding NY or NJ pizza around here, but when the need arises and a flight up to Yankee land ain't in the works, then I would suggest trying a slice or a whole pie at this place. Toppings are toppings, and they have a pretty good unique selection of ''signature" topping combos. Slices are like a 1/4 of a medium pie... 2 slices will make a meal for the average hungry guy or teenager. But really when it comes down to brass tacks it is all about the dough and the crust. This place makes pizza crusts the way God (and the Italians) had imagined.... thin and crispy. Cooked thru and thru and nothing doughy about it. You want to fill up on the toppings not a raw doughy sub-flooring that continues to expand in your warm tummy like flour and yeast on a baker's counter top. And these boys have got it right... the perfect recipe for the bread and the right temp and timing for the cook-through. If you get tired of Blvd Diner or the Mex-Hebrew place next door, this is a Mt. Plz standard. Service: since it is mostly self-serve a 5/10 (they do bring the pizza to your table)... Food quality and value 8/10. On a nice day... relax under the huge Live Oak treat in the front.

I've eaten at this Andolini's over a dozen times when we lived there and when we return for family gatherings. Over the years, I've seen a steady decline in the service and focus on customer service. I'm not sure why since we don't live there anymore. The wait time for your order is just too long for pizza. 30-45 minutes, really? I'd give the pizza alone 4 stars. I like the crunchy crust and the slices are loaded with toppings. The pizzas and slices are huge and usually only need to eat two slices to fill me up. Maybe we'll just focus on takeouts in the future. More than likely have ruled out eating inside due to the service and wait time.

The food was pretty darn good! Cute little place. Very friendly staff. I would eat here again.

After internally debating this place, I must say that this place is awful. The pizza is a pre-cooked cheese pizza and then, depending upon your order, they "top off" the pizza and reheat it. The slice ends up being dry and the dough is like cardboard. The salad came out loaded with cheese on the top and the service is usually sub-par. The only saving grace is the price. They charge cheaply for their sub-par food.

The pizza was really good. One of the better ones I've ever had. Not the best, cause I wasn't absolutely crazy about the crust. It wasn't bad but, I prefer either true deep dish Chicago style or crispy thin. But the cheese and sauce and, especially, the toppings were great. We created our own meatball, sausage, garlic, and onion pie (watch out!). I don't think I'd ever seen a pizza so completely covered with toppings. And all seasoned just right. Also, enough grease to be authentic but not dripping down your arm. We were there just before closing on a Monday night, so the joint wasn't very happening. Also, since we ordered take out, we didn't really get much of a sense of the service quality. We'll have to go back to see what it's like when there's more of a crowd. The decor seemed hip but not the layout didn't exactly invite hanging out. However, it's winter time right now. Maybe that patio really rocks in the spring. So, a three-star for now, with optimism for adding a star with another good visit.

Some of the staff seem to have a little to much attitude for a pizza restaurant. Pizza was OK but there are better places to get a good slice of pizza. I gave it 2 stars as I did not to completely dog the place, the pizza was OK, the salad choice is lame, and I would probably go back had the girl at the counter been a tad bit nicer.

Husband and I stopped here in between running some errands. We ordered a pepperoni and spinach calzone to share and two sodas at the register. We were given two nice-sized glasses, and were told to seat ourselves wherever we wished. I like having access to soda dispensers, since it enables instant refill service! The booth where we sat was cozy and comfortable. After a reasonable wait our calzone was delivered to the table on a metal tray along with two sets of silverware and two plates, each with its own dish full of red sauce. The calzone was huge and had the perfect balance of ricotta cheese and mozzarella cheese, but it was a little bit light on the toppings. The red sauce was delicious. The ends of the calzone were bread only, and I ate every bit. This turned out to be a very reasonably-priced and satisfying meal. My husband and I would definitely come here again.

Over my years of visiting this area, pizza just wasn't something that I turned to for dinner. My dining dollars would go for more uniquely Low Country fare. With a move to more permanent residence, the need for pizza arose a few nights ago. Having read the better-than-average Andolini's review, it got the nod. I'd call the pizza middle of the road. This isn't thick crust by any stretch, but it was thicker than a thin crust. I had the Greek pizza, so I didn't get a chance to try their red sauce. The dough was good, but the toppings were less than generous. The slices are huge, the pie is big enough to eat on for a couple of days. I'll definitely return for a red sauce-based pizza and was surprised no one mentioned that they have calzones. I'm a calzone lover and will be back with a review of them for sure.

Where to begin? OK, How about the diarrhea covered toilet in the women's bathroom? No? How about a "vegetarian slice" which was an already cooked cheese pizza which then had raw vegetables placed on top and warmed up (i.e., soggy pizza, raw vegetables). No? How about the $2 can (yes, a can) of soda? Not bad enough? How about metal plates that actually had cuts in them (from the utensils) which gave metallic taste to the pizza. Whatever it was, I can genuinely say this is by far the worst pizza place I have been to. I will not be returning.

I really wanted to like this place! We were quite hungry, arriving at about 7:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. Parking is a challenge because the lot is shared with the new Juanita Greenbergs. The restaurant is comprised of a series a grungy booths, perfect for the family with kids, and just the type of atmosphere I wanted for my pizza/calzone experience. I'm in no way cheap when it comes to dining out, but I honestly felt that for two drinks and 2 calzones, $24 was a lot. Considering their large pizza seems to serve a small family of 10 and is $23. We found the wait, 35 minutes to be somewhat long for 2 calzones. Best part was the young lady who served them to us, told us the average time to cook a calzone is 45 minutes. We said that's not possible, and she proceeded to argue with us. Then we saw a more distinguished lady clearing plates (assumed by age that she was the manager) and asked her how long the calzone takes to make, she replied 20-25 minutes. Young lady saw us talking to the manager and ran over surprised that she wrong about the 45 minute quote. I don't really care if a calzone takes 20 minutes or 45 to make as long as it's a great calzone, which sadly it was not. Young lady delivered the calzones without knowing which one was which, and we ended up eating the wrong calzones for about 10 minutes before switching off. The sauce and calzone lacked in flavor, and I found myself desperately trying to enhance my experience with the parmesan and garlic powder provided on the table. The crust would have been good, but it was burnt on the bottom. We noticed that they were cramming all of the orders for the night into one oven, even though they have several ovens. Suggestion: when it gets busy on a Tuesday night, fire up a second oven. Sorry Andolini's, but we won't be back. Next time we'll opt for a more authentic experience at Monza, where the prices are higher, but at least that guarantees a solid, consistently good experience, minus the screaming kids.

I have often debated the subject of whether you can ruin a slice a pizza. If you know someone on the side of the debate that says you can't bet them a large some of money that you can and then take them to Andolini's. The sauce is quite possibly the worst I've ever had. If they mixed it was antifreeze it would be an improvement. You can tell by the color it is pure tomato paste out of a can. If they served this in prison, the suicide rate in prison would go off the charts. Forget waterboarding, we should serve this to prisoners of war and they will sing like birds. They put way too much of this awful sauce on this smallish slice with very little cheese. The crust had the appeal and resembled the bottom of a shoe box. I will never eat here again, for that matter ever drive past the place again. I am suffering from some type of post traumatic stress syndrome from the experience and thinking about applying for social security disability. Please tell me this was a dream. Since I pride myself on honesty I will say that the salad was very good for a pizzeria salad and they do have coke products. Many varieties of frozen pizza are far better than what they served me tonight.

Maybe this pizza was good because we got like 100 toppings, but I think it was just good. Although we did have to heat it up when we got home since we sat there staring at the girl who placed our order while she stared vacantly at the celing. Not joking...50 minutes later her face registered shock and surprise when she caught my boyfriends eye and realized our pizza had just been sitting there next to her for 35 of those minutes. Anyway this pizza was awesome, and HUGE - it lasted all week!

Pizza by the slice! Any toppings you choose! Like the original downtown establishment, the Mt. P Andolinis serves up crave-worthy, of not gourmet, pies. However, the service is hit or miss. Depending on who's on duty, service will be super efficient, or super slack. Ironically, the higher the staff to customer ratio, the slower your food seems to arrive! I've watched the staff argue about who will get my root beer from the cooler... 3 feet away. I've waited as half of our order was forgotten... But the good nights outnumber the bad!

Yay, just what Yelp needs - another Andolini's review. Hey, I just needed it for my "best of Charleston pizza" list, I swear ;) This place is the first word that falls out of most people's mouth around this town (at least in Mt. P, Charleston, and James Island) when it comes to pizza. My introduction came when I worked out on Patriot's point. The bosses over my cubenation would freak out if we had a meeting and got to order takeout on the company dime from here so I was really excited to try it. Yeah, that's right - being cubenation lackey meant I picked up the pizza but didn't get to eat any (envision pathetic face pressed against plexiglass cubicle wall). So I finally escaped cubenation for an hour or two to get fresh air and try this place. I first remarked at the large & shady deck of Andolini's, Mt. P - great for the hot temps around Charleston. (EDIT: I mean weather, not interns - sorry, honey!) The food? The pizza is pretty good. Most by the slice pizza places I've frequented it tasted like it had been sitting around, but this was much better. Didn't live up to the expectations but maybe I'm just a snob... and maybe it's because I'm secretly still dreaming of that day when good Chicago-style pizza comes to Charleston. - Environment is cool - Prices are decent. If you like PBR with your pizza, they're much better than decent. - Service is spotty, like Ind R. said. They utilize some kind of a team concept but the only problem I experienced working in restaurants is without true accountability, service slips. Just ask anyone from back in the USSR (oh no he didn't...) If you want casual food for a fun afternoon or evening, this can be a good spot. If you want something different or a taste experience, check the others on my list.

I would have never tried this place without Yelp! I was searching for some more casual places to eat near our hotel, after several nights at the nicer places in downtown Charleston. Since we had a microwave and a fridge I figured pizza would make a good dinner and next day lunch combo. We ordered a 19 inch (the only size they offer) with pepperoni, mushrooms and green olives and it was fan-freaking-tastic. I've been craving more of it ever since we got home. The crust was good, but not my favorite...but that spicy sauce was oh so tasty. We also bought a bottle of wine at the pizza place so we wouldn't have to make a second stop on the way back to the hotel. The poor girl working the counter was very confused about our request for some reason, she kept asking if we really wanted the whole bottle. But once she finally decided we weren't crazy they went and opened it for us and recorked it (since we don't carry bottle openers on vacation normally, perhaps I'll have to add it to my packing list for the next trip...). In any case, the service is nice enough and the pizza is super tasty, so we'll be back.

Pizza tasted fine, a little heavy on the olives but the service is pretty horrible. The fountain drink dispenser was not working so we asked the lady behind the register if she could fill our drinks at the other fountain behind the counter that she was right next to her. She responded "umm, no. They are fixing it now," which I thought was super rude. It still took about 5-7 minutes to fix the fountain accessible by customers, another group of ladies was waiting too and they never told us it was fixed. Horrible service

The place to go if you want greasy bland pizza. On one visit I am almost positive that they simply took a cooked cheese pizza, slapped some toppings on it, threw it in the oven for 5 min, and brought it out. I can't understand how this place gets selected for best pizza by the local papers.

    (2)
  • Tommy V.

Pizza, pizza, and maybe a salad too. This pizza place has good New York style pizzas with generous toppings at a reasonable price. Just don't go here if you're looking for variety; their pizzas are one-size-fits-all (19 inches) and the menu is sparse. The pizza is good though and they have a nice deck where you can sit outside.
